“The COVID-19 Pandemic: Why does it matter? What does it change? What should we learn from it?” This was the theme of the kick-off event of the Graduate School of the Social Sciences of the University of Amsterdam for the upcoming study year this past August 28th. Speakers elucidated what we know – apart and together as the social sciences – and how we – students, scholars and (future) social scientists – can try to grasp and understand the current situation and navigate the challenges it poses to society. As part of this, Dr. De Vries shared some of the social isolation project’s results. The video can be seen starting at 32:00 minutes.
